    Outliers: The Story of Success

I remember when Carisha was a brand new mom and said she couldn't understand how other moms ever find time to post. I heartily agree! I have never been so busy in my life, in a good way, but it leaves me little time for Xanga. I thought since it has been 3 months since my last post it was time for an update.

Let's see...we went to Indiana for Harris Family Thanksgiving. That was fun! Sailor is a great little traveler. She was so good on all four of our flights and slept great the whole time we were gone -- better than she does at home, actually. She loved all the attention from her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Here are some pics:

Getting ready for the "Goodnight" candle ceremony.
Mom and Dad got her this PJ unionsuit, which I love.
Frank and I did agree that it's the one and only time
she'll have writing on her behind though.

All gussied up with Auntie Darcy
on New Year's Eve at Lodi's New Year's Meeting

In January, Sailor turned six months old and started eating solids!
Bring on the mess -- er -- fun.

In the new highchair Daddy assembled for her. Doesn't she look proud?

    First food: sweet potatoes

    Prunes, yummy!
Why is it that photos of other people's kids with food smeared
all over them are gross, but when it's your own kid it is just too cute?

More prunes that make her look like a clown.
See that pic above this one? The really messy one?
That's when Daddy fed her prunes. This one is when Mommy fed her prunes. Huh.

    Something sure was funny.

We have a new bedtime routine: bath, massage with lotion, put on PJs, read Goodnight Moon, get in Magic Sleepsuit, nurse, go to sleep (at least, that's the idea!).
Sailor has become a huge fan of the bath:

Aunt Carla bought her stacking cups, one of her favorite toys:

I took this photo for a valentine we sent out.
If you didn't get one it's because we don't like you. Kidding, kidding.

    And, just for fun:

Awesome pictures... She is adorable!   I bet it is so neat having such a large Christian family.  Looks like such happy times  :)   It is hard to find time to get on the computer.  I usually get on here at naptime or late at night.  Good to hear from ya!!

SO CUTE!!  It's fun when they start eating solids :)  We started Lia on rice cereal once per day when she was about four months old, and by six months, she was knocking back the fruit and whatnot, as well.  She's nearly nine months now, and is in a phase where she won't eat baby food anymore; will just holler if you even try to open a bottle in her presence.  Now that she has her pincer grip down, she will eat nothing that she can't feed to herself, and that you aren't eating, too.  So, dinnertime is pretty messy, but otherwise, we're good.  She's finally mastered a sippy cup, so that helps keep the mess to a duller roar.  And, as always, I learn good tips when I see your posts -- Magic Sleepsuit?  How is that going?  I usually put Lia in a Sleepsack, but even with the blanket sleeper ones, she does better if she has some kind of snuggly blanket over her ... can Sailor roll around pretty well in the sleepsuit, or is it bulky enough to kind of hinder that?

@loritomtracy - We just started working on the sippy cup. The Magic Sleepsuit is great. She can't really roll around in it, although she can get her hands up to her mouth if she really wants too. I think the muffling of her movements helps her stay asleep. The few times we've had to put her to sleep without it, she doesn't sleep very long. It also keeps her pretty toasty, which is important since her room is the coldest room in the house. It's kind of pricey but it's been a real help to us!

She is so precious.  Thank you for being there Thursday.  It meant a lot to the whole family, but I was especially grateful to see friends showing their love and support.  Love you!
